Wood Stoves

Our line of wood stoves includes Regency and Kozy Heat (our built-in, looks like a fireplace stove). We just added a new line of Danish stoves -- Morso Jernstoberi. This company has been producing for over 150 years, and carries both traditional look and modern styles of cast iron wood stoves combined with the latest clean-burning technology available.

If wood heat is your goal, you should also look at our Scan and Tulikivi lines of masonry heaters and bake ovens.

Remember, all wood heat doesn't come in an old-fashioned pot-bellied package. Grandpa's wood stove was often inefficient, drafty, cranky and dirty-burning, necessitating stoking in the middle of the night to keep the fire going. All these characteristics have been eliminated by modern technology where superior design has turned the lowly wood-stove into a high-tech home heating accessory.

A Few Tips When Choosing and Using a Wood Stove

When choosing a wood stove, a word of caution: Bigger is not always better. An oversized wood stove will turn your living area into a desert. You will not be comfortable unless you are from Egypt. Figure the area in square feet, then purchase the stove rated for that area.

The best stove is only as good as your wood supply. Your firewood should be cut, split and stacked, protected from rain and snow and seasoned for at least twelve months prior to burning.

A surface thermometer or flue gas thermometer is your friend. Use it, and check it reasonably often. Stay within the safe burn range, and you will not have a creosote problem.

If you have a power outage, remember you still have a heat source that you can cook on.

Remember, properly installed and operated, wood heat is renewable, green heat which puts no more carbon into the air than a log rotting in the woods.
